2010 Allen & Ginter Beethoven DNA Hair Relic 1/1

One of the staples of the Allen & Ginter product line are the DNA Hair Relic 1/1 cards. This years version once again has Ludwig Van Beethoven and that card is currently for sale on eBay.

The price tag is already staggering and the auction doesn't end until July 18th. Current price is $2,024.99 and climbing by the hour. It's remarkable that a piece of hair would command such a premium on the open market. The Beethoven Hair Relic card is even on the front cover of the Hobby Boxes being ripped open throughout the country. It's one of the 'product hits' and the final price will be interesting to monitor.

The seller of the card, billys_sport_treasures, owns a hobby shop in Minnesota also aptly called Billy's Sports Treasures. Here is the announcement on their website that the store owner made about pulling the card:

We've decided to go ahead and list the Beethovern 1/1 Hair Relic for sale on eBay.  However, while we realize most of our regular customers may not have a chance to buy that card, we still wanted to find a way to spread the feeling that we got when pulling this card--so we decided to do a giveaway promotion tied to the sale of the card.

The Ebay auction is scheduled to end on July 18, 2010--so between now and close of business on Friday the 16th, every purchase of over $20 in our store--online or in person--will result in that customer getting one guess at what the final price of the auction will be.

The person with the closest guess will win one free box of 2010 Allen & Ginter.
