PSA 8 1954 Topps Hank Aaron Rookie Card

There has been a lot of hype surrounding the 2010 MLB rookie class - Stephen Strasburg, Jason Heyward and most recently, Buster Posey, have all shined. It may come as some surprise that the most watched baseball card on eBay is currently a 1954 Topps Hank Aaron Rookie Card graded PSA 8. Take that Strasburg!

In March 2010, Sports Card Radio tracked the sales of Aaron's rookie card sales on eBay. Two 1954 Topps Henry Aaron RC graded PSA 8 were sold that month and fetched $3,850.00 and $4,799.99. The '54 Topps Aaron RC currently on eBay is up to $3,000.01 - so it will be interesting to see what the final price will be.
With New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez closing in on 600 HR it might be a great time to sell high on Aaron. Rodriguez already admitted to steroid use and current all-time HR leader Barry Bonds is believed to have also taken the juice to help his muscle growth.  Aaron played in a time when the game was clean and many baseball purists still regard him as the true all-time leader. As time passes, it will be interesting to see how the home run record will be perceived by fans of the game. Will they give credit to Bonds and A-Rod despite their "cheating"? More likely, old time players like Aaron will gain even more legendary status because they played in an era without steroids.

  1. Only few days left and we will know the final price of this card. Kinda excited about it. The player that plays with his skills and talent is a true winner, so pure..

  2. I wish I had the money to buy one :( The '54 cards are some of my favorites.

  3. I just purchased a PSA 8 54 Topps Aaron on Ebay for $2261 - the seller's starting bid was only $800, there was no reserve, and the seller didn't a picture of the card until about 2 hours before the auction ended.

  4. That's a great price! What a deal. I love it when seller don't post a pic. I've gotten a lot of great deals that way as well.

I will make sure to make note of your bargain next time I write about an Aaron rookie.
