On the wikipedia page for Don Hutson, it credits him as the first star WR in the NFL. He played 10 years in the league for the Green Bay Packers and Panini was able to get 50 cut signature cards that were inserted into 2010 Classics. Hutson passed away in 1997.
Hutson had a remarkable career, which also included some time on the defensive side of the ball. I was amazed to find out that he led the NFL in interceptions in 1940 with 6. He was all over the field because he also led the NFL three times in extra points made. But it was Hutson's accomplishments as a wide receiver which he is most known for. He won the league MVP award twice and was the first WR in NFL history to have over 1,000 yards in one season.
It's been a slow buildup to the NFL season in terms of trading cards, with many collectors waiting to see which rookies will emerge from the 2010 draft class. I've noticed a lot of vintage cards, and modern cut autograph cards have been the hottest football cards during this off season. We'll see if that trend changes when the pre-season kicks off this week.
